(二).Curricula and Activities set-up
1.
Short term training programs (1 week-3 months):
1) Chinese language: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Studies of Chinese Writers and Their Works, Commercial Chinese, etc.
2) Cultural course: Chinese Economy, Chinese History, Chinese Social System, Traditional Chinese Music, Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Chinese Cooking, Chinese Folkways, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Law, Appreciation of Chinese Films, Appreciation of Chinese Dramas, History of the Republic of China, etc.
3) Martial arts study: Tai chi study, Kung Fu,Free fight, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Skills and tricks, Comprehensive class.
4) Different classes: for beginners, elementary, middle and advanced classes are arranged according to different Chinese language levels of the students. Right teaching materials and methods are used for different classes. Students have 8 class-hours a week. From Monday to Friday, they have classes in the morning, and in the afternoon, review, prepare their lessons, or learn wushu, qigong or taijiquan, etc. Local visits to scenic spots or historical sites are arranged at weekends for students to learn about history and culture of Luoyang. Movies, video programs, and cultural performances are also available. Students are able to visit Zhengzhou, kaifeng,Anyang,Xian,Jinan, which are not far from Luoyang.
2. Programs for advanced studies(1-2 years):
1) Elementary class: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, etc;
2) Intermediate class: Listening, Speaking, Grammar, Intermediate Chinese Language, Intermediate

Reading, Newspaper and Periodical Reading, etc;
3) Advanced class: Advanced Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Newspaper and Periodical Reading, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature. Another ten or so selective majors and cultural courses are set for the advanced studies programs;
4) There are 8-10 class-hours per week, and other activities set-up is generally the same with that of the short term programs.
3. Undergraduate programs (4 years):
1) Grade One: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, etc.
2) Grade Two: Listening, Speaking, Intermediate Chinese, Intermediate Reading, Grammar, Newspaper and Periodical Reading, Selected Reading of Modern Contemporary Chinese Literature, Outline of Chinese Culture.
3) Grade Three: Advanced Speaking, Advanced Chinese, Modern Chinese Grammar, Chinese Rhetoric, Newspaper and Periodical Reading, News Listening, Writing, Special Topic Lectures on C
hinese Culture, Indexing of Reference Books, Information Processing of the Chinese Language.
4) Grade Four: Advance Chinese, Classical Chinese Literature, Classical Chinese Language, Chinese Folkways, Chinese Politics, Popular Talks, Translation, Linguistics, Commercial Chinese, Comparative Literature, etc.
5) There are 10-20 class-hours per week, and the institute arranges for students' investigations and practices.
4. MA Programs (2-3 years ):
Studies of Modern Chinese Grammar, Chinese Dialectology, Literature of the Tang and the Song Dynasties, Literature of the Ming and the Qing Dynasties, Modern Chinese Literature, Contemporary Chinese Literature, Theory of Literature and Arts, Theoretical Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Comparative Linguistics, History of the Chinese Language, etc.

ⅰ A new program for international students
Our university supplies scholarship for those who need it. Here is the requirements of international students on scholarship in our university:
1. English (Japanese、Germany、Spanish and Russian) students with Bachelor's Degree and capable of fundamental English, Japanese or Russian teaching.
2. Duration:6 months at least(one semester).
Every school year there are two semesters: The spring semester is from late February to mid July, and the fall semester is from late August to late January next year.
3. Send your written application together with your resume and the copies of your passport and certificates.
4. 10 class-hours of Chinese per week, and 10 tutoring-hours of English per week. If you can finish 20 tutoring-hours of English(Japanese and Russian) per week, you will get RMB 500 yuan, if you can finish 25 tutoring hours, you will get RMB 1000 yuan.
5.You will be free of tuition fee and accommodation
accommodation:
A single room, heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer ;bathroom with 24-hour hot water, IDD telephone, color TV with English Channel,internet,public washing machine.

Note: Accommodation cost can be reduced to 50% if two persons share a room or an apartment.
2. Meals
International students' cafe provides Chinese and western food for students. Monthly cost is approximately US $ 60. Meals expense can be reduced to about US $ 40 per month if students have their meals in Chinese students' dining-hall. It could be even cheaper for students to cook their own meals.
3.Transport, communications and banking
It takes about 7 minutes' bike from the campus to downtown. Students can also choose bus transport to go shopping and sightseeing. A monthly bus ticket costs approximately US $ 3.5. Route 81,69,55,61 and 15 bus stops are all at the university gates, which enables students to reach most parts of the city. A local call costs about US $ 0.01 per minute. A long distance call between cities costs US $ 0.05 or so per minute and for an international call the expense is approximately US $ 0.6 a minute. Postage for mailing an international letter is US $ 0.8. Students can walk to a post office or a bank within 5 minutes. Keeping a bankcard at hand is recommended for both convenience and safety.
4.Recreation and sports
In the university there are cinema, ballroom, bar, billiards-room, table-tennis room, tennis-court, basketball-playground, soccer-playground and gym. University Sports Event for staff and students is held every autumn. In normal times there are quite a few ballgames. Off the campus it takes five minutes' bike to Luoyang Swimming Pool and 5 minutes' walk to bowling hall.

ⅲ. Application and admission
1. Send your written application together with other materials concerned to Institute of International Culture and Education. Not long after your application is received, the institute will answer you with "Application Form for International Students Luoyang Normal University "and "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners"(unnecessary for those who study in China for less than six months).
2. Fill in the application form and send it back with a copy of doctor-signed "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners "The original should be brought to China for residence application.
3. After verification, the institute will issue to qualified applicants admission notice and China visa application form, with which the applicants apply to Chinese Embassy/Consulate for China-entry visa.
4. The institute will offer free pickup at Luoyang airport or railway station if being informed of student arrival time (date and number of flights or trains). 
5. Applications are accepted at two times: March through June, and September through the next January. The first semester begins in early September every year, and the second in late February.
6. Short-term students for course of Chinese Language and culture are welcome at anytime of the year.
